Houston residents on Wednesday were told to boil water – if they had the energy to do so – after water pressure plummeted across the Houston area. Water pressure improved in Houston, although a boiled water warning remains in place and is unlikely to be suspended until Monday.
Dozens of nearby counties, including the Pearland, Katy and Sugarland areas, have also issued boiling water warnings.
Residents are advised to use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking and hygiene purposes, such as brushing their teeth or washing their faces, until the notice is withdrawn.

Amid the boiling water warning, several water distribution sites are being opened in the Houston area.
During a news conference on Thursday, Mayor Sylvester Turner announced that water distribution sites will open in each of the city’s districts at around 2 pm today.
The councilors did not release details about all the locations scheduled to open on Thursday. Each location will remain open until supplies run out. In the midst of the continuous alert for boiling water, the demand for water is high. The water available at each location varies. We will update our list as more information is released.
