How to watch Wonder Woman 1984 at home

If you subscribe to HBO Max

Wonder Woman 1984 is a sweet post-natal gift for HBO Max subscribers, especially since it will cost nothing more than the monthly or annual subscription fee. At the moment, HBO Max costs $ 15 a month. When Disney Mulan live-action arrived at Disney Plus in September, even subscribers had to shell out an extra $ 30 for Mulan (until December 4, when it became free for all subscribers) Wonder Woman doesn’t have that extra cost. Just tune in to HBO Max as you normally would and the action will develop.

But on December 3, HBO Max announced that it would no longer offer a one-week free trial – and you know that this prevents Wonder Woman fans from getting the movie for free and canceling the service. Still, you can sign up and cancel after paying for a month, if you find that you won’t be attending the service long enough to be worth it.

Will it be available in 4K HDR?

On December 1, director Patty Jenkins tweeted that Wonder Woman 1984 would be the first HBO Max film available in 4K Ultra HD, HDR 10, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. Not sure what that means to you? We divide here, but essentially, if you have the right device, you’ll be able to watch the movie in better resolution and, if Dolby Atmos, best sound.

Theaters are also showing

Many moviegoers have not returned to their favorite cinema since the pandemic blockades began in March. Some cinemas remain closed. And even movie theaters that are open in the United States and around the world have introduced special precautions and reduced seats. But certain cinemas will show Wonder Woman 1984, the WarnerMedia statement said.

“If you are fortunate enough to live in a place where cinemas are open, we believe we are offering a great option, given the Cinema Safe protocols that our partners have implemented,” said WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar in a statement. “With that, the exhibitors are offering a cinema experience with social distance, masks, cleaning and ventilation protocols”.

What it is?

Warning: small spoilers for the first film ahead.

Wonder Woman was the third highest grossing film of 2017, behind only Star Wars: The Last Jedi and the live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast. A sequel was inevitable and, as the title promises, the action moves on to the excitement of the 1980s. The film is set in 1984, the year of the Los Angeles Olympics and there are some big 80s hair and shopping mall action.

Wonder Woman explores that same pastime of the 1980s – staying in the mall.

Warner Bros. Pictures

Gal Gadot plays Wonder Woman, the Amazonian daughter of Zeus and Hipólita. Her strength and powers far outweigh anything humans can throw at her, but her world also confuses her and baffles her. His love interest is the American GI Steve Trevor, played by Chris Pine. He looked like he died in the first movie, but come on, Hollywood can’t let such an integral Wonder Woman companion go dead.

Robin Wright once again plays General Antiope, Wonder Woman’s aunt, in the sequel, despite sacrificing himself for Wonder Woman in the first film. Connie Nielsen is also back as Wonder Woman’s mother, Hippolyta, the queen of Themyscira, the home island of the Amazon.

New characters include Kristen Wiig as supervillain Cheetah and Pedro Pascal (yes, The Mandalorian himself, the figure of Baby Yoda’s father) as the villain Maxwell Lord.

Professional tip: see the credits

Trust us: as soon as the movie is over and the final credits start rolling, keep watching. There is a small scene of medium credits that will reward loyal Wonder Woman fans.

And by the way

Need more Wonder Woman? HBO Max also added all 60 episodes of 1970s Wonder Woman TV Series, starring Lynda Carter and with Lyle Wagoner as Steve Trevor Jr. The original Wonder Woman series spanned three seasons, from 1975 to 1979, and had many kids’ fans spinning around on the playground, imitating Diana Prince’s rapid change from normal clothes to her star – starry costume.
