Watch this C8 Twin-Turbo 1022-HP Corvette that breaks the quarter-mile world record

The most powerful C8 Corvette on Earth is now also the fastest C8 in a quarter mile.

YouTuber Emila Hartford, who pushed her heavily modified 2020 mid-engine Corvette to 1,022 horsepower on a dynamometer earlier this year, broke the fastest C8 record on the trail. She was able to time 9.418 seconds with a trap speed of 144.84 mph on the Famous Dragstrip in Southern California during a private test event this month.

From most angles, the C8 in question looks quite normal, except for a set of Forgeline wheels with bead locks wrapped in Micky Thompson drag radials. Behind, however, it is obvious how much work has been put into this car. The engine is still the original LT2, equipped with various internal components and Texas Speed mods to handle the momentum of the two Precision turbochargers hanging from the rear. There are replacement clutches from Cicio Performance to handle the extra torque and KW suspension components to keep everything in line during difficult launches.
