Watch the 911 Turbo S beat more competitors in a drag race

The Porsche 911 Turbo S of the 992 generation is impressive, a high-powered, high-performance grand tourer that combines unbelievable speed with the habitability for which the 911 Turbo line is known. That performance has already been proven on the trail, smashing everything from the all-electric Porsche Taycan Turbo S to Dodge’s greatest quarter-mile specialist, the Challenger SRT Demon. Now. the Turbo S can claim victory over two new Grand Touring competitors, Nissan’s GT-R Nismo and Audi’s R8 V-10.

The result comes from a series of straight-line tests conducted by YouTube’s Carwow channel, which makes its drag runs on a track instead of a prepared drag track. In the standing drag race, Porsche easily won with a quarter mile time of 10.1 seconds, beating the Nissan and its time of 10.8 seconds. The R8, which struggled from the start with launch control, arrived with just 11 seconds, despite its V-10 power.

The race from the start told a slightly different story, with Porsche winning more narrowly in the first test and by a comfortable margin in the second. In both cases, Audi came in second, easily overtaking Nissan. The 911 Turbo S and R8 V-10 also slightly outperformed the GT-R in straight-line brake tests, with Audi winning by such a narrow margin that it almost becomes irrelevant.

Again, the lesson here is that the current 911 Turbo S is as fast as any car on the road without compromising anything beyond the total cost. And while the Turbo S can boast the absurd numbers needed to win drag races, the “basic” 911 Turbo is also no small thing.
