Watch Steve Earle playing Justin Townes Earle’s “Harlem River Blues” at Kimmel

Steve Earle and his band The Dukes appeared in Jimmy Kimmel Live! Thursday night (January 7), where they sang the song “Harlem River Blues”, written by Earle’s son, Justin Townes Earle. After the song ended, Earle paid an additional tribute to his son: “I’ll see you when I get there, cowboy,” he said. See below the presentations by Steve Earle & The Dukes “Harlem River Blues” and “Far Away in Another Town”.

Justin Townes Earle died of an accidental overdose last summer at age 38. The older Earle recorded a handful of his son’s songs for his new album JT. The album arrived on January 4, which would have been Justin’s 39th birthday. The proceeds from the project will be put into a deposit for Justin Townes Earle’s youngest daughter.
