Steph Curry had an unusually bad start to the season, but obviously he is going to start rolling soon. The greatest sniper in NBA history has an occasional small drop from time to time, but he has that title for a reason.
Curry hit 2 out of 10 in the 3-point range in each of the Warriors’ two defeats early in the 2020-21 season, as the team fought on the perimeter as a whole. Golden State will attempt to enter the track on Monday in Chicago against the Bulls, and if the footage from the training is any indication, Curry looks set to lead the way.
In training on Saturday, the two-time NBA MVP scored 105 points out of 3 points in a row.
Just observe:
This was not a loop. No, it’s more than five minutes in a row of Curry draining corner 3 without losing. And no, you didn’t count incorrectly. The footage shows Curry making 102 3 points, but he did another three before the camera started shooting.
Practice it or not, this is incredibly impressive. But it is apparently not surprising.
“Obviously, the best sniper I think has ever played this game,” said Draymond Green of Curry’s practical feat. “I can’t sit here and pretend to be surprised. It doesn’t really surprise me.”
Warriors coach Steve Kerr, on the other hand, was stunned.
“I heard about it, [Warriors coach Bruce Fraser] told me after it happened, “said Kerr.” I think your previous record was 77, I asked [Fraser] that specifically. This is crazy, it’s crazy, it’s probably a world record, I don’t know if the Guinness Book of World Records still exists, this was one of my favorite books growing up. If it still exists, it should go into the book, because we now have video evidence apparently. “

There is another reason to believe that Curry may be on the verge of an imminent escape, too, as the United Center in Chicago has been the scene of some spectacular shooting performances by the Warriors. In 2016-17, Curry hit 11 out of 15 beyond the arc in the 126-111 victory at the Golden State. The following season, Brother Splash Klay Thompson hit 14 out of 24 in the 3-point streak in a 149-124 win, in which he set the NBA record of 3 more points in a single game.
Curry and the Warriors are bound to work to get out of their routine eventually, and perhaps a visit to the Windy City will serve as a spark.
