Watch Ram TRX Drag Race Sleeper V8 Rusty Truck

Of course, it is clear that the boys of Hoonigan popularized the YouTube drag racing trend, but each variation carries the same excitement. Therefore, The Fast Lane Truck recently started a series where they line up Ram TRX against serious competition. So far, the TRX – which remains undefeated in the series – has separate vehicles such as the previous generation Ford Raptor pickup and even a GT500 Mustang, but the latest video could end it.

Of course, the competition can look like any old International Harvester pickup. However, this example is the mother of all sleepers when it comes to truck racing.

From the outside, it may look just like any other 54 ‘International, but like any sleeper, all the goodies are under the skin. As such, the body is based on a 2000 Chevy Silverado chassis – which supposedly matched the original truck surprisingly well. It maintains the same Chevy engine with several mods included, but not limited to a turbocharger, Z06 cam and new stem bolts.

Semantics aside, the first race showed that the TRX has a lot of work to maintain the unbeaten record; even after a bad start, the international underdog stayed a car away from Ram. The next lap proved to be much more predictable with Internacional getting much better in the beginning, but still finishing behind the competition – we would be remiss not to mention that Internacional also has four-wheel drive.

As it seems that the guys are running much less than 400 meters, we would bet that a mod driver or a longer drag track could produce a very different result. Regardless, it is clear that these two trucks are a lot of fun to drive on the limit.
