Phoebe Bridgers did it Saturday Night Live debuts with a performance highlighting a pair of tracks from his 2020 LP Punisher, Number 10 in Rolling Stonelist of the best albums of 2020.
Bridgers opened his musical space with “Kyoto”, with the singer and her band wearing their skeleton costumes that are now their trademark. Later in the show, Bridgers returned with the Punisher closer to “I Know the End”, a slow recorder who came to a turbulent conclusion where Bridgers repeatedly smashed his guitar against an amplifier.
With the Covid-19 pandemic preventing Bridgers from supporting her new album on the tour, the singer spent the year staging many notable virtual performances, including playing “Kyoto” from her room in Late Late Show and from her bathtub in Jimmy Kimmel Live !, a vision of the “Salvador Complex” of a haunted christmas attic in The Tonight Show and “I Know the End” in an empty theater in Late night with Seth Meyers.
Bridgers, who recently appeared in Julien Baker’s “Favor” and Charlie Hickey’s “Ten Feet Tall”, is scheduled to play at this year’s Tibet House virtual benefit show on February 17th.
