Watch Katy Perry’s opening day: ‘Firework’ [VIDEO]

Joe Biden’s Inaugural Committee gave Macy’s Fourth of July Spectacular a run for its money on Wednesday night when Katy Perry ended the game Celebrating America lit by an epic firework display.

The 13-time Grammy nominee made a splash on Twitter by singing her 2010 hit “Firework” in front of the Washington Monument. O american idol The judge was dressed in white when she appeared before President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, who joined First Lady Jill Biden and the second gentleman Doug Emhoff on Truman’s porch.

Presented by Tom Hanks, Celebrating America aired on various networks and featured speeches by Biden and Harris, as well as a joint appearance by former presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama. Additional artists included Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, Ant Clemons and Justin Timberlake, Foo Fighters, John Legend, Tim McGraw and Tyler Hubbard and Demi Lovato.

Earlier that day, Lady Gaga sang the National Anthem at the inauguration ceremony, which yielded a TVLine reading note of “A-” (watch here). She was followed by Jennifer Lopez (who sang “This Land Is Your Land,” while casually sneaking a snippet of “Let’s Get Loud”) and Garth Brooks (who appeared to play “Amazing Grace”).

Late Show Presenter Stephen Colbert, who was one of the first to comment on Perry’s grandiose performance, joked that the fireworks display “was so big that I believe it violates the Paris Climate Agreement”.
