Watch Katy Perry’s commemorative “fireworks” presentation at the opening

Katy Perry ended the inauguration day Celebrating America concert with a surprise performance from his 2010 hit “Firework”. Other performances in the special included Demi Lovato, Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, Foo Fighters, Justin Timberlake and more in honor of Joe Biden becoming the 46th President of the United States.

Performing in front of the Lincoln Memorial, Perry began his thunderous hymn with a simplified take, singing over a moderate piano accompaniment. When the fireworks started on the National Mall, the music picked up its lush and powerful rhythm. The First and Second Families were seen watching the show while Perry ended his performance.

Perry actively campaigned for Democratic nominees in the 2016 and 2020 elections. Following the loss of Hillary Clinton in 2016, she wrote a “purposeful pop” album in response called Witness. “When I left, we were living with a different mentality in the world. I definitely was. I was in my early twenties, ”she said Rolling Stone last summer, referring to the launch of his career just before President Barack Obama was elected. “We were flying high in life. We were not fighting as we are. There was not so much division. All the inequality was under the rug. It was not said. And now it’s really in front of us. ”

Last year, Perry released his fifth studio album Smile. She also welcomed her first child with partner Orlando Bloom, called Daisy.
