Foo Fighters sang their song “Times Like These” during a primetime “Celebrating America” special in honor of Joe Biden’s inauguration as the 46th president of the United States. Before the presentation, Grohl made a quick speech about teachers, including Dr. Jill Biden and her mother Virginia Grohl. It is a performance that starts quietly, but continues. See below.
“This year, our teachers faced unprecedented challenges, but with dedication and creativity they faced these challenges head on,” said Grohl. “So this next song is for Mackenzie [Adams] and all of our unshakable teachers who enlighten our nation’s children every day. “
Other artists during Inauguration Day celebrations included Bruce Springsteen, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Demi Lovato, John Legend, Katy Perry, New Radicals and others.
Foo Fighters have released three songs since the announcement of their next LP Midnight remedy. They released “No Son of Mine” and “Waiting on a War” earlier this month, and “Shame Shame” debuted on SNL in November. The album will be released on February 5.
The opening event Celebrating America tonight also featured performances by Bruce Springsteen, Justin Timberlake and Ant Clemons, John Legend and more. Katy Perry ended the night with her hit “Firework”.
