Doja Cat ruled the 63rd edition of the GRAMMY Awards with her hit “Say So” twice nominated. “I didn’t expect this all my life, I was getting ready”, the rapper said in a narration seconds before transforming the downtown Los Angeles stage into a sea of lasers.
Not a second was lost while she was making another varied version of “Say So”, one of the highlights of 2019 Hot Pink. Performance was part of The Matrix and partly a post-apocalyptic secret agent while commanding the stage with intricate choreography that was apparently inspired by Janet Jackson.
2020 was an important year for Doja Cat, partly due to the virality of “Say So”. Later, she added Nicki Minaj to the remix, which became the first No. 1 single by both rappers and made history as the first collaboration of two female rappers at the top of the Advertising panel Hot 100 Chart.
This year’s GRAMMY Awards marked the first nominations for Doja Cat’s career: Best New Artist, Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
