Black Pumas performed two tracks from the Grammy-nominated album of Album of the Year as part of CBS this morningthe last Saturday sessions.
For the virtual show, the psychedelic soul duo from Austin, Texas, formed by singer Eric Burton and guitarist Adrian Quesada – here accompanied by a full support band – presented explosive interpretations of “Know You Better” and “Confines” from their homonymous debut in 2019; a deluxe edition of that LP was nominated for 2021 Grammy Album of the Year.
Black Pumas, who was also nominated for Best New Artist at the 2020 Grammy, is also running for Record of the Year and Best American Roots Performance for his single “Colors”.
Burton recently spoke to Rolling Stone for our Year in Review series, where the singer talked about completing the band’s next LP as his biggest goal for 2021. “Finish and present the new album live,” said Burton of his hopes for 2021. “I’m ready to go back on the road and play for a live audience again. ”
