Former White House strategist Steve Bannon turned against his fellow Trump ally Rudy Giuliani after the ex-president’s former attorney tried to blame the Lincoln riots on the Capitol.

Bannon, who was pardoned by former President Trump during his final days in office, invited Giuliani to his podcast “War Room” on Friday to discuss the Capitol riots and the upcoming impeachment process.

During the warm interview, Guliani repeated the false theory that the antifa were the “wolves in sheep’s clothing” involved in the deadly uprising. The FBI and the Department of Justice (DOJ) said there was no evidence pointing to the group’s involvement.

But then Giuliani made a new claim. The insurrection was organized by an “anonymous” person who, according to him, was linked to Project Lincoln, a republican group that opposes Trump.

With his eyebrows raised, Bannon asks Giuliani who this person might be, saying, “Okay, but who is it? Rudy, we can’t say – yo. Yo!”

Giuliani begins to deliver a wild speech, repeating the baseless accusation while Bannon tries to interrupt him.

“Wait a minute. Hey, hey, hey, hey – what are you saying: ‘work for Project Lincoln?’ Right-wing groups like who? “Bannon pressed again.

“I don’t know if I can reveal his name,” replied Giuliani. “Because we have it from anonymous sources. But he has worked in the past to [Utah Sen. Mitt] Romney. “

Bannon then seems to laugh at Giuliani’s response before telling him, “That’s why we are exploding all the time.”

“You can’t launch a charge like that and say, ‘Yes, I have a double-secret parole guy that I can’t mention, but he worked for Romney and he worked for Project Lincoln,'” Bannon added.

Bannon has spent the past few weeks exploring unsubstantiated allegations of widespread electoral fraud on his “Bannon’s War Room” podcast, which he said recently has amassed 29 million streams.

Trump’s former ally was also among those who publicized the January 6 protest, which became violent and resulted in five deaths, including a police officer.

YouTube stopped Bannon three days after the incident. He was banned from Twitter in November 2020.

Giuliani faces a $ 1.3 billion defamation suit against Dominion Voting Systems, one of the country’s largest ballot box manufacturers, for his false allegations surrounding electoral fraud.

In the interview with Bannon, Giuliani also said he could not defend Trump at the Senate trial because he was a witness who spoke at the rally.

The Lincoln Project seemed to laugh at Giuliani’s groundless theory, writing on Twitter that Trump’s former lawyer went from asking for “trial by combat” to blaming them for the insurrection in a matter of weeks.
