Washington state sheriff deputy stabbed in the neck, shoots suspect: report

A Washington sheriff’s deputy underwent surgery for a stab to the neck on Friday night after a fight with a suspect, according to a report.

The suspect was transported for his own medical treatment after the deputy shot him in response to the alleged stab attack, Seattle Q13 FOX reported.

The incident occurred in Yelm, a town in Thurston County, about 32 miles south of Tacoma. The weapon used in the stabbing has not been described.

The deputy was called to the scene because of a complaint that a visitor refused to leave his home. The stabbing occurred shortly after the deputy’s arrival.

The deputy, in her 30s, was in a stable condition. The suspect’s medical condition was not immediately known.

Neighbors reported hearing at least three shots, Seattle’s KOMO-TV reported.

Authorities said the incident was still under investigation.
