Washington Post rubin, PBS Yamiche Alcindor clash over immigration issue at Biden’s press conference

Two pro-Biden journalists engaged on a rare Twitter spit on Thursday over a question one of them asked President Biden at his first formal press conference.

PBS NewsHour correspondent Yamiche Alcindor was the second reporter chosen by the president to ask a question. Alcindor focused on the current migratory crisis on the southern border with a question that came out as effusive for many critics.

“You have said several times that immigrants should not come to this country now … This message is not being received,” began Alcindor. “Instead, the perception of you who elected him – as a moral and decent man – is the reason why many immigrants are coming to this country and are trusting you unaccompanied minors.

“How do you resolve this tension and how are you choosing which families can stay and which can go … and is there a deadline for when we don’t see these overcrowded facilities run by CBP when it comes to unaccompanied minors?” Alcindor then asked.

Jennifer Rubin, a columnist for the Washington Post, a former conservative who became a fanatic for Biden, seemed deeply offended by Alcindor’s line of questioning while listening to the news conference live.

“Yamiche makes the statement unproven that his words triggered the wave. This is factually wrong,” Rubin wrote on Twitter.

Alcindor fired back, writing: “You may not have interviewed migrants and asked them this Q, but the reports confirm what I said, which is that some migrants are coming because of the perception that Pres.[ident] Biden is more human and is allowing unaccompanied minors to stay. So, unfortunately, you are really wrong. “

“Please see the Washington Post data report,” Rubin responded by linking to a recent “review” of his newspaper. “Statistically, the assumption that much of the press has made is false. There is no increase. This is seasonal. Could there be individuals? I think. But the FACTS review shows the opposite.”

Critics scoffed at the MSNBC team of contributors for their frank exchange of views.

“Yamiche said the border crisis was happening because Biden is such a nice guy and offered to help Joe strategize to get rid of the obstructionist. That was very tough for Jen Rubin,” Republican Party strategist Matth Whitlock reacted.

“She thinks Yamiche was very tough on Biden,” said Tablet Magazine associate editor Noam Blum. concluded.

Rubin wrote a column praising the president for being able to “stand out” at the news conference, while the media “failed to get Biden out of the message”.
