Glenn Kessler of the Washington Post checks the politicians for a living, but on Sunday he did a check himself after an awkward attempt to tear apart former President Donald Trump.
While Trump criticized President Biden for the continued closure of schools during his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Sunday, Kessler was trying to hold Trump accountable for the closings.
“Trump complaining about the kids who haven’t gone back to school yet. Who was the president a month ago?” Kessler asked, apparently sarcastically.
Twitter users showed him that a month before the speech was January 28, eight days after Biden took office.

Trump, who has called for schools to reopen since last summer, criticized Biden at CPAC for failing to address the issue in the face of powerful teacher unions aligned with Democrats.
“Joe Biden shamefully betrayed America’s youth and is cruelly keeping our children locked up in their homes for no reason,” said Trump.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines stated that schools can reopen safely without vaccinated teachers, but the Biden administration has been criticized for complying with union demands as children continue to languish in isolated learning environments.
Republicans are rejecting the $ 128 billion earmarked for K-12 schools in Biden’s $ 1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan – a package that the Republican Party leadership has said is bloated and full of demands it “has not absolutely nothing to do with the relief from COVID. “

Trump continued to claim that the 2020 election was “rigged” against him in his CPAC speech and again suggested that he really defeated Biden, which also caught the attention of fact-checkers. Trump lost the Electoral College, 306-232.
