The Washington football team must be interested in Deshaun Watson amid his alleged feud with the Texans.
The Washington Football Team is gearing up to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL playoffs on Saturday, but behind the scenes, their front office is gearing up to make some updates to the team during the off-season of 2021. The team still has some gaps to fill, despite reaching the playoffs, since he achieved a record of 7-9 in the weakest division of the NFL.
That said, the biggest hole Washington needs to tackle is the position of defender. Dwayne Haskins proved to be a massive bankruptcy and was released before the end of his second season in Washington, despite being chosen in the first round in 2019.
Meanwhile, Alex Smith is 36 years old. Although he made one of the most unlikely injury twists in NFL history this season and went 5-1 in six games, he regressed the more he played, as his surgically repaired leg is not quite holding. It would be difficult to trust him as anything more than a reserve – if he decides to play in 2021.
Kyle Allen looks like a potential high-level reserve or low-cost starter, while Taylor Heinicke certainly did enough to fight for third place in the squad for the team. Steven Montez will also fight for that spot, but the team simply needs a No. 1 quarterback to pair up with his young elite defense. Finding one could make them a true contender for the Super Bowl.
For this reason, Washington should have a high level of interest in Deshaun Watson. The Houston Texans quarterback is reportedly dissatisfied with the organization, so it is possible that he is moving at some point in the future.
