Washington creates online system to help determine who can get the COVID-19 vaccine

The Washington State Department of Health is introducing a new system in an effort to eliminate any confusion about who may or may not receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

The new system is an online questionnaire called PhaseFinder. The way it works is that you provide information about yourself, such as your age and the county you live in.

PhaseFinder also asks a series of questions to determine the likelihood that you will contact COVID-19 specifically through your work.

Depending on your responses, you will receive a message stating that you are eligible or not for the vaccine.

Health officials say this system will remove the burden on people who are actually administering the vaccine to determine who can get it.

PhaseFinder relies on the public to be honest with their responses. Health officials say they realize that there is an opportunity for people to manipulate the system, but say they prefer people to get the vaccine than the alternative

Currently, people who are in Phase 1A can receive the vaccine.

Phase 1A includes all workers in healthcare settings and residents and employees in nursing homes and nursing homes.

Health officials say they hope to have more information released next week about who will receive the next vaccine.
