Tuesday’s Washington Capitals-Philadelphia Flyers game was postponed because of COVID-19 Flyers problems, a source confirmed to ESPN.
The Flyers are now the fifth NHL team on break. The Buffalo Sabers, Colorado Avalanche, Minnesota Wild and New Jersey Devils had their games postponed this week thanks to groups of COVID-19 cases.
Last week, the NHL improved its security protocols in the arena, including applying more social distance in the locker rooms and removing windows behind the seats to increase air circulation. The NHL also tried to force players to reach the rink at least an hour and 45 minutes before the game – although the league has softened its position in this regard, because of significant player resistance.
The NHL has been testing players and staff on a daily basis with PCR testing, but has started testing faster in the arenas, especially on game days.
