Was there a Cortana app for Android?

Microsoft has been telling people for some time that Cortana would be disappearing on Android devices. This week, it finally happened and luckily it doesn’t look like anyone was affected or even noticed.

Cortana was Microsoft’s own small competitor Siri / Google Assistant. There was even a smart speaker on the market that used Cortana. Obviously, this did not take off, as the offerings from Google and Apple were more widely adopted by the vast majority of smartphone users. Regardless, Cortana will always have a special place in our hearts.

Here’s what Microsoft said.

As of March 31, 2021, the Cortana content you created – such as reminders and lists – will no longer work on the Cortana mobile app, but can still be accessed through Cortana on Windows. In addition, Cortana reminders, lists and tasks are automatically synchronized with the Microsoft Tasks application, which you can download free of charge to your phone.

RIP, Cortana on Android.
