Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is number two when it comes to hitting three.

Against Utah Jazz on Saturday, Curry sank his 2,561th three-point score to move into second place in NBA history, beating Indiana Pacers legend Reggie Miller. Only Ray Allen remains ahead of Curry, with 2,973 triplets made.

As soon as Curry’s shot fell – a catch and shoot in the corner of a screen – the guard raised the number 3 three with one hand and the number 1 with the other, paying homage to Miller, showing the star symbol on the shirt number.

It took Curry 715 games over 12 seasons to eclipse Miller while shooting 43.3 percent behind the hoop. Curry has hit at least 200 three points in seven of those seasons, surpassing the three three mark on three occasions, including a 402 record in 2015-16.

Miller played almost twice as many games (1,389), hit 39.5 percent and took 18 years to make 2,560 trios as one of the most prolific profound threats of his era. Allen, on the other hand, needed 1,300 games to set a record 2,973, shooting 40 percent behind the hoop.

As long as Curry remains healthy, he is more likely to end up as the all-time three-point leader in the NBA.

Allen retired at 38, while Miller called it a career at 39. Curry is still 32, and his shot remains as pure as ever.
