Warriors are interested in Victor Oladipo’s trade

Golden State has an elite perimeter shot creator in Stephen Curry, and the attack fires without Draymond Green as a secondary creator, but that’s where it ends. Without Klay Thompson – or Kevin Durant, or Shaun Livingston, or Andre Iguodala, or even D’Angelo Russell – the Warriors need another perimeter kick maker towards the end of the season and the playoffs.

How about Victor Oladipo?

The Warriors are interested in an Oladipo deal, reports Kevin O’Conner in The Ringer. In fact, closing a deal, however, seems like a remote possibility.

League sources say the Warriors are interested in acquiring the Rockets’ owner, Victor Oladipo …

Houston cannot demand too much in a deal, as Oladipo was unimpressed and will become an unrestricted free agent. In addition, the Golden State would not have much to offer. Because of choices due elsewhere, the Warriors are able to handle only two first-round choices: one from 2021 (via Minnesota) or 2022, and one from 2026 or 2027.

Houston will ask for the choice of Minnesota – the first three protected in this draft, unprotected next year – or a potential young player like James Wiseman. The Warriors will overturn these ideas, at least when it comes to an Oladipo trade, reports Connor Letourneau in the San Francisco Chronicle.

However, just because Golden State likes a multi-time All-Star that fits into a winning now mentality, it doesn’t mean that it is willing to mortgage its future to perhaps win a post-season series …

But according to a team source, the Warriors “almost definitely” would not give up on the Timberwolves or Wiseman selection unless they received someone from a generation like Joel Embiid or Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Oladipo is not that level of player. He did not find his All-NBA form after the quadriceps tendon rupture and recently lost a few games due to a foot injury (the last in a series of injuries). Oladipo has an average of 20 points per game, but throws just under 40% overall and 33.1% in three. In addition, the Warriors would have to pay $ 21 million in salary – and all this for a rental. Oladipo is a free agent after this season, and the excitement surrounding the championship is that he wants to go to Miami.

Never say never, but it is difficult to see this business closing. This sounds more like something that someone would leak if they were trying to raise the price of Oladipo to another team – possibly the Knicks.
