Warning raised in SC as ice accumulates in NC

The Winter Climate Warning that had been issued in Greenville, Pickens and Spartanburg counties before the potential freezing rain was canceled by the National Weather Service.

Additional rain until Thursday of up to 1 ½ inches in the Greenville area was expected at 8:45 am, less than an inch in Anderson County, but no ice was expected to accumulate in South Carolina.

The Greenville County School District is operating regularly on Thursday after inspecting roads in the state, according to Greenville County Schools spokesman Tim Waller.

Across the border with North Carolina, from the Brevard area to the east to Tryon and also elsewhere in the northeast, up to half an inch of additional ice was expected after some buildup had already started. Dangerous conditions were expected on Thursday night.
