Warner Bros. will expand its DC Films line from 2022, with four films in theaters each year, two exclusive to HBO Max, and television spinoffs arriving fast enough to set its clock.
DC Films President Walter Hamada explained the studio’s new plan to the New York Times, saying, “With every movie we’re seeing now, we think, ‘What is Max’s spinoff potential?'”
With the launch of Wonder Woman 1984 for HBO Max and for the studio’s 2021 film set below due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, there are still many DC films on the way in 2022 and beyond. Directed by Matt Reeves Batman, a Flash movie adapted to Flashpoint, a Black Adam film that presents the Justice Society, and Shazam: Fury of the Gods. There are also many other unnamed projects in pre-development stages, like an Aquaman sequel, Wonder Woman 3, a Green Lantern Corps movie, Batgirl, Static, Nightwing, the New Gods with Ava Duvernay and maybe even a Blackhawks movie with Steven Spielberg – although nothing has been heard about this effort since 2018.
Some of these film projects will go directly to HBO Max, which will also be home to television spinoffs based on theatrical films. Warner Bros. announced the first spinoff of a DC movie for HBO Max in July, a Batman tie-in series “set in the Gotham City police department”. John Cena will star in the eight episodes Peacemaker, turning out of his role in James Gunn The Suicide Squad.

Borrowing the idea of the “multiverse”, an extensive scenario of Parallel Lands, the Warner Bros. films. they only connect when they want to. For example, the next Flash debut film – based on the DC Comics story of the same name – will feature Ben Affleck reprising his Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League Batman, and Michael Keaton reprising his bat Man role as Batman.
