Warner Bros. Godzilla vs. Kong Trailer: Our Money’s on Kong

Although at first you thought Godzilla would be the winner, based on his size and his ability to cut ships with his backbone, King Kong is bringing a lot to the ring at Warner Bros. first full trailer of Godzilla vs. Kong. Not only does Kong have some kind of hand-cut weapon that can block Godzilla’s atomic breathing, he apparently has a legendary old grudge fueling his anger. “Myths are real,” explains Ilene Andrews, of Rebecca Hall. “There was a war and they are the last survivors.”

The trailer is full of classic lines from sinister monster movies, like the one that suggests a gigantic battle, headed by Godzilla and the greatest of the great apes. “We need Kong,” warns Alexander Skarsgård geologist Nathan Lind. “The world needs it to stop what’s to come.” Worries about Dr. Mark Russell of Kyle Chandler, “Godzilla is out there and hurting people, and we don’t know why.”

Hopefully, they can join forces with Millie Bobbie Brown, Brian Tyree Henry, Julian Dennison and, probably, the rest of the scientists on the planet to find a solution before all the capitals of the world are destroyed like so many Lego buildings. On the side of humanity, at least, is Kong’s relationship with the small human child Jia (Kaylee Hottle), who can hopefully communicate with the giant ape from a safe distance throughout this adventure. Can they get Kong a big Bluetooth headset, maybe? Find out who comes out on top on March 26, when Godzilla vs. Kong hits theaters and HBO Max simultaneously; the film can be viewed on the platform for 31 days.
