War zone players have some interesting theories about the future of the map • Eurogamer.net

Activision continues to cause some kind of change to the main map of Call of Duty: Warzone, this time with the imminent arrival of a boat.

This week, Activision said that Verdansk will have a number of points of interest to discover or explore as part of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season Two. They advance the story of Warzone, we were told. The trailer for the second season is below:

There was mention of the cargo tanker Vodianoy, which players had spotted off the coast of Rebirth Island recently. This ship had disappeared at sea, but is now heading for the port of Verdansk. “It is recommended that operators in the vicinity be extremely careful,” said the official synopsis, “since the ship is carrying unknown cargo and its crew cannot be contacted.”

And there is something “starting to resonate” in the depths of Verdansk, although these new locations have not yet been detailed. I imagine players will sniff them out right after the second season’s release on February 25th.

But before that, players saw Vodianoy heading towards the Port of Verdansk during the game.

Redditor Kennnt posted a gameplay clip for the submarine Warzone showing the approaching ship, as well as an electrical storm above it.

Meanwhile, the distortions on the screen continue. The latest is accompanied by more conversations in Russian, apparently on board Vodianoy himself. Here is a clip tweeted by @xRadical__:

And here’s the translation, courtesy of Twitter user @totsamyipetrik:

“Captain Rosental speaking. Russian Vodianoy ship … it happened. We were transporting strange biological material. What did we do?! There was an outbreak of infection. I’m afraid we won’t be able to contain it. (Scream product).”

So, what is happening? Fans of the Call of Duty tradition have many theories. The expectation is that Vodianoy will hit Verdansk and become one of the new points of interest that Activision has sparked. From there, players suspect that the ship will contain zombies, spit zombies on the map, or release this “strange biological material” that turns dead players into zombies.

This seems like a safe bet. Last week, players discovered the Cold War Zombies testing machine on Warzone’s rumble playlist. Since then, more have been added to the map. So, almost certainly the zombies are coming to Warzone. Remember, for the first time, the stories of Call of Duty: Warzone, Black Ops, Zombies and Modern Warfare are all connected.

Speculating about what will happen later in the second season, some think that this zombie outbreak in Verdansk will end up forcing a nuclear bomb – just to be sure. Do you remember Activision’s provocation about something “starting to crumble” in the depths of Verdansk? Perhaps these crashes come from underground silos. The clip below, taken from the second season trailer released this week, shows a player running up and out of an underground silo, and other players fighting outside. This is not currently possible in Warzone:

In the same trailer, we see a character kicking an enemy – this is Sparta! style – in an open silo. Again, this is not something you can currently do on Warzone:

Here is an interesting theory from the redditor SapphireXP: “My guess: it is the ship from Rebirth Island and will crash into Verdansk because of the storm. Chemicals are released. Dead players turn into zombies. They see no way out and detonate Verdansk .. . we have a new map. “

If a nuclear bomb is set up to blow Verdansk to pieces, and players have long suspected that this is the way Activision is going to do it, what about the map? Maybe we can play in Verdansk again, but it changed due to the explosion. Perhaps there is a completely new map to play. There is certainly a feeling among players that Verdansk, as it stands today, has run its course, and there is an appetite for a new scenario.
