WandaVision’s ‘Pietro’ Funko Pop Can Prove He’s Fake

Pietro’s recent release of WandaVision Funko Pop may reveal a big secret about your character.

WARNING: The following contains potentially important spoilers for Marvel’s WandaVision, streaming on Disney +.

Following WandaVisionThe launch of Episode 6 and in conjunction with the product Virtual Con Spring 2021 reveals, Funko added some new Pops to his WandaVision collection, matching the previously announced figures of Vision and Wanda in their Halloween costumes. A pack of two with Billy and Tommy in their outfits is being sold as an exclusive Emerald City Comic-Con, while one by Pietro in his suit will be released as an exclusive Funko.com.

However, there is something strange in the description that accompanies the photo of the figure of Pietro, both on Instagram and Twitter. Both captions say, “Coming in March: Pop! Marvel: Marvel Studios’ – WandaVision – “Pietro Maximoff” (Exclusive Funko)! “Pietro’s name is presented in quotation marks. This is not consistent with the way the characters are labeled on Funko product lists (which usually reflect what their boxes say (although no photo of the boxes has yet been released). The twins , for example, are labeled “Marvel: Marvel Studios’ WandaVision – Billy and Tommy.”

This raises some questions. It is the figure labeled “Pietro Maximoff” because it represents Pietro played by Evan Peters, who is known even to many of the other characters in WandaVision like the wrong Pietro? It is not original to the MCU; Pietro that Wanda grew up with, Pietro in Ultron era, was played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, had a Sokovian accent, was markedly more serious and related to his sister in a much more gentle and intense way. Evan Peters’ Quicksilver iteration – Peter Maximoff – in the X-Men films, he is an American joker and his version of Pietro in WandaVision it is portrayed much more so. The brothers even discuss this on the show.

Another possibility, however, is that the figure is labeled “Pietro Maximoff” because the character that Evan Peters is playing is not really Pietro. Among his strange mannerisms, inconsistent appearance and the awareness of many (though not all) of the details of what happened to Westview, fans speculated that he is actually another possibly villainous character disguising himself as Pietro to get close to Wanda. He could be Loki, which would match the next Disney + Loki Series; he could be the villain of the Nightmare comics, which attacks sleeping victims; he could also be Mephisto, whose appearance has been predicted by fans since the beginning of WandaVision, considering his connection to Wanda and his children in the comics.

Whatever the situation, Funko’s use of quotation marks around Pietro’s name is some kind of spoiler. This could only talk about the illusory nature of WandaVision, but it can also refer to a more sinister claim.

Written by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman, WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Randall Park as agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Kathryn Hahn like Agnes.
