WandaVision star Randall Park reveals that he received a COVID-19 vaccine in September because he joined a vaccine trial

Randall Park revealed during an interview on The Talk on Friday, January 29, 2021 that he received a COVID-19 vaccine in September 2020, because he had participated in testing the vaccine.

The 46-year-old film and TV star explained that he joined the test after his friend and fellow actor Ken Jeong told him that they were looking for Asian candidates for vaccine testing.

Randall did not know whether he had the placebo or the actual vaccine administered until he was told on Thursday that he actually received the vaccine in September during testing.

The actor, who stars as agent Jimmy Woo on the Marvel / Disney + series WandaVision, sat down for a virtual interview with The Talk, which airs on Friday.

Randall said: ‘I just found out that I was vaccinated against Covid since September last year.’

Lecture presenter Carrie Anne Inaba asked him, ‘How did this happen?’

He explained: ‘Around September last year, I was on the phone with my friend and yours, Ken Jeong, Dr. Ken. And he was telling me about this vaccine test that was going on and they were looking for Asian candidates.

Ken, 51, who has become a household name in Knocked Up, Role Models, Community, The Hangover franchise and Crazy Rich Asians, is actually a doctor; he graduated from Duke University in 1990 and obtained his MD from the UNC School of Medicine in 1995. He completed his residency at the Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans.

He practiced medicine in LA in early 1998, but performed at improv clubs, eventually leading to TV and film roles.

He gave up his practice in 2006 to pursue full-time work.

Randall continued during his interview on The Talk: ‘And you know, I was thinking, this is interesting. Then, I discovered that it was close to my house, not far, and I was bored because it was a pandemic. ‘

Adding: ‘I was stuck at home. And I thought, maybe I should donate my body to science. ‘

Randall said: ‘I thought it would be my way of fighting this thing that is happening all over the world. So I signed up for the trial. And I didn’t know if I received the placebo or the vaccine itself, but I found out yesterday that I received the vaccine. ‘

Randall currently stars in the Marvel / Disney + series WandaVision; he became a household name in The Office, The Interview, Fresh Off the Boat, Aquaman and Always Be My Maybe.

He is married to actress Jae Suh Park and the couple has a daughter named Ruby, aged eight.
