WandaVisionthe most recent release of finally answered some of our burning questions … and quickly introduced another important one.
In episode 4, which revealed how SWORD and other outside agencies are dealing with what’s going on in Westview, Darcy Lewis and Jimmy Woo noticed a strange censorship on the Wanda and Vision sitcom: For example, when Jimmy tried to contact Wanda via a club radio swimming in Bewitched-sque plot – which we knowing resulted in Dottie cutting her hand on broken glass – the episode Darcy was watching jumped a few seconds ahead, completely skipping the radio incident.
In discussing this curious turnaround with TVLine, showrunner Jac Schaeffer admits “there is so much we don’t understand about what’s going on” inside the Westview bubble. But even though Schaeffer cannot specify what, or who, is behind the sitcom’s censorship moments, she confirms that we will have more responses as the season continues.
“The next few episodes will absolutely shed some light on this situation as we move forward,” she suggests.
Among Schaeffer’s other provocations …
* Although Episode 4 has largely removed the existence of Wanda and Vision on the sitcom, Schaeffer says the series “will absolutely return” to the Westview we have been watching and joining ” [Wanda and Vision’s] trip is for the rest of the show. “
* Echoing a sinister teaser by star Paul Bettany, who suggested to TVLine that “couples they are not necessarily that they like each other ”in more modern comedies, Schaeffer warns in the same way about“ complicated times ”that the titular couple will have ahead of them. “[Viewers have] he invested a lot in Wanda and Vision, and in his love and marriage story in this city ”, she elaborates. “And like all weddings … there are differences of opinion, and that has always been something that interested me a lot about this show – their domestic photo and getting more authentic in that space.”
* After seeing an extremely positive response to Darcy and Jimmy’s relationship, Schaeffer points to an “organic” development of their working relationship as the show progresses. “[In the script] we don’t really highlight the fact that they kind of click and become friends right away … but people really seem to be jumping out of all of that, and I love them together, “she says.
Although Schaeffer admits that the astrophysicist and the FBI agent are “systematically underestimated” in the workplace, “they see themselves as good at their jobs, professional, talented and good people, above all. It was always our hope that they would line up very quickly. ” (With reporting by Keisha Hatchett)
