Wan’Dale Robinson will move to Kentucky

Wan’Dale Robinson will be (finally) a Kentucky Wildcat.

Shortly after entering the transfer portal, the Frankfort native announced that he will take his talents to his home in Old Kentucky.

Just over two years ago, Robinson was hired to play by Mark Stoops in Kentucky. Western Hills High School’s Mr. Football changed his mind two weeks before signing, opting to play for Scott Frost in Nebraska. He made a slight detour, but Wan’Dale finally found his way to the UK, thanks to the help of Stoops and Vince Marrow.

Robinson immediately fit into the billing of an All-American, setting Nebraska records for receptions and receiving yards for a freshman in 2019. He continued to lead the Huskers in receiving in 2020. In 20 college football games, Robinson managed only 2,000 meters scrimmage and was a finalist twice in the Paul Hornung Prize, awarded each year to the most versatile college football player in the country.

A high school star, in his last football season, he scored 45 touchdowns in 11 games. Whether it was running back, wide receiver, returner or defense, Robinson could turn any play into a touchdown. Now, BBN will be able to watch him play at Kroger Field while potentially receiving passes from a former foe in the district, Lexington’s former Catholic quarterback Beau Allen.

Robinson gives the Kentucky attack an immediate shock of explosiveness after several seasons of fighting in the air. A slot receiver that can make people go wrong, Liam Coen’s attack will target Robinson early and often. It is not possible to quantify how much the addition of the great player to the attack will help the new player and the new defender in 2021.

We will have much more information about what Robinson’s return to Kentucky means to the Wildcats until the ball is released this fall. Before the hype train completely leaves the tracks, enjoy some of Robinson’s best work on the football field.
