SANTO ANTÓNIO – A San Antonio Walmart pharmacy will begin administering COVID-19 vaccines as of Friday, according to a company press release.
The Walmart located at 5555 De Zavala Road will be one of several locations across the country that will begin vaccinating residents through the US Federal Retail Pharmacy Program. In total, more than 1,000 pharmacies at Walmart and Sam’s Club will begin receiving lots of the vaccine.
The vaccine will be administered to eligible residents who fall into levels 1A and 1B.

“Ninety percent of the country lives ten miles from a Walmart. We are committed to helping people live better – and healthier – in Texas, and we take this role very seriously, ”said Dr. Cheryl Pegus, executive vice president of health and wellness at Walmart. “We want to help the country reopen, but we can only achieve this through widespread COVID-19 vaccination. We are proud to work together with the federal government, states, communities, customers and associates to expand access to the vaccine and achieve this goal. “
