COLOMBIA, SC – The weather at Williams-Brice Stadium is sure to be bleak on Saturday night as fans begin to gather for the South Carolina game against Missouri.
A tough season played under the weight of COVID-19 restrictions has become even more difficult this week. The Gamecocks lost their third consecutive game in an embarrassing way. Coach Will Muschamp was fired. Subsequently, four players left the team.
So when Gamecocks start facing Tigers at 7:30 pm, many people may need a spark. Gavin Bennett, first-year offensive lineman, South Carolina redshirt, will be there to help them.
Bennett will not be on the field. It is a walk-on that has not yet made its way to the rotation of the offensive line, but it will be remarkable nonetheless. Despite playing in an anonymous position, Bennett is anything but in South Carolina.
