McNeill, a two-way line player who was recruited by the former Tennessee team as a possible defensive line player, chose Vols over Minnesota and Memphis on December 7, after receiving their first SEC offer on November 19 from Tennessee. Most teams recruited him as a lineman, and he could still play on both sides of the ball for the Vols, one of the few Power Five programs that offered him after watching a film of his senior season. McNeill signed with Tennessee in December and is expected to apply in May.

Crawford was a longtime target for Heupel’s team at UCF, and Tennessee didn’t wait long to contact Crawford after Heupel was hired and put him on National Signature Day after chasing him for less than a week. He planned to sign during or after his next college season, which will be played this spring, before the Vols came looking for him. An athletic tackle who is expected to play left tackle this season at Butler, Crawford will arrive in Tennessee as a sophomore redshirt, with three seasons remaining of eligibility.
