Violent night in Philadelphia: teenager, 25-year-old driver killed in separate shootings

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) – At least two people have died, including a teenager, after a violent night in the city of Philadelphia.

Police say a 17-year-old boy was shot in the face at block 2100 on Jefferson Street at about 9 pm Monday in northern Philadelphia. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he later died.

Also at around 9 pm, a 25-year-old man was found shot in a vehicle in southern Philadelphia.

The discovery was made on Broad Street, near Block 1300 on Packer Avenue.

Police say the man was found inside a car riddled with bullets that hit a pole. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he later died.

Early in the evening, around 7 pm, police said a 13-year-old boy was shot near the basketball court at 57th Street and Haverford Avenue in western Philadelphia.

Police said the police found the boy suffering from a gunshot wound to his foot. He was rushed to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where he is listed in stable condition.

No arrests were made in connection with these shootings.

According to an interactive map created by the city controller’s office to track armed violence, there have been more than 50 non-fatal shootings and at least 15 fatal shootings since the last map update on 14 January 2021. More than 20 people have been shot since Friday night, according to the Philadelphia police.
