Founder of Village People Victor Willis is starting at the Grammys, saying that he disrespects the artists and has such a bad Hall of Fame … the group is rejecting the recent introduction of their greatest success.
Willis told TMZ … his legendary disco group told the Grammy President Interim Harvey Mason which is decreasing inclusion in the 2021 Grammy Hall of Fame because the Hall is “missing” and “is not taken seriously by the recording academy”.
Willis – the Village People police officer – seriously disagrees with the lack of attention that Grammy Hallucinates receive, saying there is no mention of them during the Grammy Awards … and there is no swearing-in ceremony.
For the record, the iconic track from the group “YMCA” was specifically included in the Grammys Hall of Fame in December, because it is only for singles or albums, not for artists – but Victor does not agree with them in honoring the song.
He calls the whole thing an insult that Village People don’t want to take part in until the Grammys “pull themselves together.” He adds that when the group releases an album later this year, it will probably not even submit it to the Grammy.
He goes on to say that the Grammy should “show respect for the classic artists who built the recording business”.
Still, you can count on Victor among musical artists who are very anti-Grammy today … with The weekend leading load.
