Viking survival Valheim announced early access

Yes, there is another early access crafting survival game on the horizon, but hey, this one has Vikings. In this Rust ’em up called Valheim, you will be building a home for yourself in a “procedural-generated purgatory” full of supernatural villains inspired by Nordic legends. Iron Gate’s multiplayer Viking game will have early access early next month, February 2nd.

“Surrounded by creatures of chaos and ancient enemies of the gods, you are the youngest guardian of primordial purgatory, tasked with killing Odin’s old rivals and bringing order to Valheim,” say the creators. Before you go around attacking and dethroning gods, though, I suspect – as evidenced by the shot at the top – that you will begin your adventure by felling trees. For sure, find some wood cut in the new Valheim trailer below. Be careful though, it looks like falling trees can really kill you.

After creating some equipment and perhaps a longboat or two, Valheim will send you out to fight beasts like hordes of skeletons, tree monsters and huge, evil deer. You will not have to go alone either. With friends by your side, you can work on building a settlement for mead halls, farms and ships. Valheim will allow you to host a multiplayer session or, if you are aware, connect your own server to persistent Viking purgatory.

Iron Gate says it expects Valheim to have early access for at least a year. During that time, they will add additional items to create, new enemies and bosses, new biomes and more.

You can find Valheim on Steam, where it will land on early access on February 2nd.
