In the March 2019 video, Greene follows Hogg as he walks towards the U.S. Capitol. She can be heard making false and baseless claims while asking a series of questions related to gun rights and how he managed to meet with senators. Hogg continues walking without addressing Greene.
“He’s a coward,” says Greene at the end of the video as Hogg walks away, claiming that his activism was funded by billionaire philanthropist George Soros, who is often the subject of far-right conspiracy theories, and other liberals. “He cannot say a word because he cannot defend his position.”
“In the 11th year, one of my classmates took hostages at our school with a gun that he brought to our school ‘without weapons’,” said Greene. “I understand this fear firsthand and I will always work to protect our rights to arms, so that Americans can defend themselves and others against bad people with the intention of hurting or killing them.”
“I just want to get the job done and help end armed violence,” he said.
He added: “People like @mtgreenee would like you to think that we do this work because we see it as fun and we are ‘paid’ by Soros. This is anything but true. We organize ourselves because we have to – not because I want to. Suggest otherwise It’s disgusting. “
In a January 2019 post, Greene liked a comment that said “a bullet to the head would be faster” to remove Mayor Nancy Pelosi. In other posts, Greene liked the comments about the execution of FBI agents who, in his view, were part of the “deep state” working against Trump.
In an April 2018 Facebook post, Greene wrote conspiratorially about the Iran deal, one of former President Barack Obama’s foreign policy achievements. A commentator asked Greene, “Now are we going to hang them ?? Meaning H&O ???”, referring to Obama and Hillary Clinton.
Greene replied, “The stage is being set. Players are being put in place. We must be patient. This must be done perfectly or the liberal judges would dismiss them.”
After CNN contacted Greene, her personal Twitter account posted a statement in which she did not deny that she liked posts and responded to comments, but claimed that many people had her Facebook page.
“Over the years, I have had teams of people managing my pages. Many posts were liked. Many posts were shared. Some did not represent my opinions. Especially those that CNN is about to publish on the internet, ”she wrote. Greene did not specify whether she or a member of her team was behind the posts reviewed by CNN’s KFile.
Republican House Representative Steve Scalise said in a statement to CNN: “I have always condemned the use of violent rhetoric in politics on both sides, and that is no exception. There is no place for comments like that in our political speech” .
A spokesman for Rep. Liz Cheney, the No. 3 Republican House Representative, told CNN in a statement: “Rep. Cheney has spoken in the past about hateful comments from members of both parties and she finds these recent posts disgusting. “
