The Falcon and the Winter SoldierSam Wilson (played by Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) are Marvel’s funniest weird couple in a preview of the next series, which arrives Friday, March 19 at Disney +.
Citing Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange as an example, Sam postulates that all the main villains fall into three categories (“The Big Three”): androids, aliens and wizards. However, Bucky – checking Gandalf’s name because he is modern and reads The Hobbit when it was first published in 1937, thank you very much – I do not believe this argument. The duo’s amusing debate is just a preview of what’s to come when this incompatible duo finally comes out on their own.
In the wake of the events of Avengers: Endgame, Sam and Bucky will team up for “a global adventure that tests your skills – and your patience”. The six-episode spinoff is set to be a “cinematic experience” in which the duo navigates a post-Captain America world by Steve Rogers. Expect lots of action and more pop culture references.
In addition to Mackie and Stan, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will also see Emily VanCamp replaying her role as Sharon Carter and Daniel Bruhl returning as the villainous Baron Zemo. Most, Internal EnemyNoah Mills and SupergirlCarl Lumbly’s are set to appear in unspecified roles, and Lodge 49Wyatt Russell of the company will play John Walker (who adopts superhero alter egos US Agent and Super-Patriot in the comics)
