The video above is from the balcony of the City Hall. It shows US Capitol officials on the ground in a standoff with an armed crowd outside the chamber door on Wednesday afternoon.
Among those on the balcony are Washington State Rep. Pramila Jayapal. In the middle of the video, one of the members of the House begins to pray.
Shortly after the incursion, President Donald Trump encouraged his supporters who occupy the United States Capitol to “remain peaceful”, but did not ask them to disperse. Trump held a rally the previous Wednesday, in which he repeated his false claims that President-elect Joe Biden had won the election through electoral fraud.
He urged his supporters to march to the Capitol, telling them to “get rid of the weak people of Congress” and saying: “get the weak out; this is the moment of strength. “
