GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) – The increased spread of COVID-19 by the community has prompted Vidant Medical Center in Greenville to initiate its capacity expansion plans.
Vidant officials say the increase capacity plan includes the creation of additional bed capacity.
The hospital system continues to ask the community to help slow the spread of the virus.
“Our team members are not immune to the spread of the community and we need them to be healthy to take care of the community. We continue to ask everyone to do their part to help stop the spread: avoid meetings, wash your hands frequently and wear a mask, ”Vidant Health said in a statement.
The hospital system said it is currently treating 218 patients with COVID-19.
On Monday, Vidant said its virus testing website processed 1,300 collections, the largest to date.
The system states that positivity rates remain high and are currently around 20%.
