Victorian home passes through San Francisco to new address | USA News

After 139 years on 807 Franklin Street in San Francisco, a two-story Victorian home has a new address.

The green house with large windows and a brown door was loaded into giant carts and moved to a location six blocks away on Sunday. Viewers lined up on the sidewalks to take pictures as the structure rolled – at a maximum speed of 1 mph – to 635 Fulton Street.

The home journey has been planned for years, reported the San Francisco Chronicle. “The site at 807 Franklin Street will become a 48-unit, eight-story building, while the transported Victorian will be anchored at 635 Fulton Street and converted into seven residential units,” the paper wrote.

The person responsible for the move, Phil Joy, told the newspaper that he needed to obtain licenses from more than 15 municipal agencies. He said the move was complicated in part because the first part of the journey involved a descent. “This is always difficult for a home,” he said.

Along the way, parking meters were pulled out, tree branches were trimmed and traffic signs were relocated.

The owner of the six-bedroom home, Tim Brown, a San Francisco broker, is expected to pay about $ 400,000 (£ 285,000) in fees and moving costs, said the Chronicle.
