Victoria 3 will be announced in May, perhaps

Paradox Interactive has just closed its ‘Paradox Insider’ event on Twitch, which has been associated with Game Dev Direct from MIX. We’ve already received announcements about Crusader Kings 3, Stellaris and even Surviving Mars, but the publisher of strategy games kicked off by announcing its plans for PDXCon this year.

PDXCon is the crowd that the company organizes every year, although the current global health crisis has made physical meetings in general quite difficult. This year, the Paradox events team decided to host a free digital event in May called PDXCon Remixed.

As with previous face-to-face events, there will be new announcements, panels and press sessions looking at the 2021 list in more detail. Paradox CEO Ebba Ljungerud did not reveal any details, but she confirmed that there would be an announcement about a new game from Paradox Development Studios. For those who don’t know, this is essentially the main studio behind great strategy games, like Stellaris and Imperator: Rome. That’s right, it’s an ad for an ad!

Victoria 3? Victoria 3.

It could also be Europa Universalis 5, as it would be next in line if we look at the order of launch of the previous generation of great strategy games. Stellaris 2 can be an outlier; that game has undergone some significant changes and some may find that a sequence is necessary to reconcile the current state with the legacy design options.

Or we may be looking at a new IP – Imperator: Rome was released in 2019 and had a very difficult path, but it sold well enough to keep the development team working on it, and the recent 2.0 update really gave it a new lease. life. Victoria 3 is the current meme request.

Whatever it is, we will find it during the Remixed PDXCon in a few months, from May 21 to 23, 2021.
