Vice President Kamala Harris lists in Washington, DC

Since taking office, Vice President Kamala Harris has lived at Blair House, across the street from the White House, while the United States Naval Observatory – the vice president’s traditional home – has undergone renovations. Now, Ms. Harris’ former home in Washington, DC – a condominium in the Westlight complex in the West End – is up for sale, according to the local multiple listing service and property records.

The property, which hit the market on Monday for $ 1,995 million, will be the second property that Harris has sold since taking office. Her San Francisco apartment, located in California’s SOMA neighborhood, sold in March for $ 860,000, far more than the $ 489,000 she paid in 2004, records show. Ms. Harris paid about $ 1.775 million for the apartment in Washington, DC in 2017, the records show.

A Harris spokeswoman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The approximately 1,700 square foot apartment has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and an office, according to the listing. The unit has a natural oak wood floor, a spa-inspired bathroom with a teak shower and a kitchen with a custom island and Italian cabinets. The building has a large rooftop barbecue terrace, a private club room, a 25-meter heated rooftop pool and a gym, according to the list.

Mei-Mei Venners, Westlight’s director of sales, declined to comment on the owner, but said Westlight is “the building of power and politics in DC”. She also noted that the building was particularly suitable for Covid because it has a HEPA – quality air filtration system.
