Broncos quarterback Drew Lock believes “without a doubt” that he is the right man for the team in Denver, despite leading the league in interceptions this year and seeing his completion percentage drop in his debut campaign.

Lock’s confidence did not lead coach Vic Fangio to put Lock’s name on the starting lineup. Fangio gave an end-of-season press conference on Tuesday and said that Lock “may be” the team’s owner in 2021, but that he cannot simply slip into camp with his work in his pocket.

“He is will have to improve, ”Said Lock, via Andrew Mason of DNVR Sports.

Fangio said last week that he is excited to have offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur back for a second season with the team and continuity could be an advantage for Lock, showing the improvement Fangio is looking for. Before entering the field, the Broncos will have the opportunity to add other players in the position and their approach to that will show how committed they are to Lock in the short term.
