Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy had perhaps his most frustrating game in the NFL on Sunday.
The draft choice for the first round of 2020 had five takedowns against the LA Chargers, including two at the end of the first half that would have helped the Broncos to earn points at the table before the break.
“Sometimes falls happen,” said Jeudy. “It happened many times today. This is unacceptable. “
Jeudy’s five falls corresponded to his total production in the first 15 weeks of the season. The Alabama college star, who simply answered “never” when asked if he ever had a performance like this, has only two touchdowns, compared to 10 crashes.
“I just need to make plays,” said Jeudy. “Nobody stopped me. I was open. I just have to finish. I beat myself today. “
Training 13-0 at halftime, the Broncos responded in the second half in an attempt to make another comeback at the end of the fourth period. After drawing the score 16-16, with just under three minutes left, Denver gave up the winning field goal with less than a minute left on the clock. The Broncos’ three-point defeat comes almost two months after Denver defeated the Chargers from 31 to 30 again in a November 1 game in week 8.
Jeudy’s takedowns at the end of the second quarter may have helped the Broncos beat the Chargers 2-0. But despite the negativity surrounding the young player for his poor performance, Broncos coach Vic Fangio believes Jeudy can learn from this advance.
“He has to come back after that,” said Fangio. “It can be a turning point in your career. He has to come back, have a great week of practice, get a bunch of balls, and then show up on Sunday when the balls are thrown at him, he’ll get it. “
Jeudy and the Broncos will have one more chance this season to recover. Denver hosts the Las Vegas Raiders next week at the end of the season.
