ViacomCBS vaguely confirms that Paramount + will be available on Apple TV channels

As CBS All Access changes to Paramount +, doubts have arisen about the fate of integration with Apple’s TV channels. A new promotional video being shown to CBS All Access users confirms that Paramount + will be available through Apple TV channels, but the fate of the Apple TV + and Showtime package is not yet clear.

As seen by 9to5Mac MadXD reader on Twitter, CBS All Access is running a promotional video about the transition to Paramount +. The video says:

CBS All Access will become Paramount + on March 4. But as a CBS All Access subscriber, you don’t have to do anything. You will have full access to Paramount + through your existing subscription to Apple TV channels.

This confirms that CBS All Access subscribers will be able to continue accessing content through Paramount + with Apple TV channels, rather than having to download a separate Paramount + app from the App Store. It also appears that Paramount + will be available to new subscribers through Apple’s TV channels, but this has not been confirmed explicitly yet.

An important thing to note here is that when HBO Max was launched last year, the HBO Max app allowed users to subscribe to Apple TV channels, even if the service itself was not available on Apple TV channels. . This may be what Paramount + is referring to, but the expression “you don’t have to do anything” implies that users will be able to watch directly on the TV app.

Apple TV channels are streaming services that you can purchase and stream directly from the TV app. All billing is done by Apple itself and the video is hosted by Apple. It is seen as a more elegant solution for many Apple users who do not want to download a dedicated application for each service.

Until earlier this month, Apple had offered an Apple TV +, CBS All Access and Showtime package for $ 10 a month. Apple launched this package just five months ago, in August, and its fate is now in balance amid the Paramount + transition.

As we reported last week, the TV app no longer features this package as an option for new subscribers, but current subscribers to the package can still access the service.

It is possible that as soon as Paramount + is released to the public, the Apple TV + and Showtime package will reappear for new subscribers. We will keep you updated when Paramount + launches on March 4th.
