PUEBLO, Colorado (KRDO) – On Wednesday, Vestas laid off 450 workers from its Colorado factories. Including 120 workers from Pueblo.

The Chieftain reports that the company has laid off 15% of the workforce in Pueblo. Chante Condit-Pottol, director of marketing and communications at Vestas, said the decision to consolidate its workforce reflects lower demand in the short-term market.

In total, Vestas laid off 120 employees at its tower plant in Pueblo, 50 employees at its Windsor blade factory and closed its blade factory in Brighton completely.

According to The Chieftain, Vestas is consolidating all blade production in Windsor and plans to transform the blade unit in Brighton into a North American headquarters for its global tools business.

Executive Director of Pueblo Economic Development Corporation, Jeff Shaw, said that they plan to work with people to find new jobs.

Displaced workers are encouraged to contact the Pueblo Economic Development Corporation office at (719) -544-2000.
