VERZUZ by Rakewon and Ghostface Killah: Here’s what happened

Raekwon and Ghostface Killah clashed in a confrontation of the Wu-Tang family at VERZUZ on Saturday night (March 20). See the round-by-round analysis below.

During their time together, the two recalled a trip they had taken to Barbados together. RZA stopped to say hello at one point, like Young Dirty Bastard, son of the late Wu-Tang associate, Ol ‘Dirty Bastard. RZA later returned to lead a toast near the end of the show. Cappadonna appeared to present his guest verse on Raekwon’s “Ice Cream”, and Masta Killa stepped up on “Glaciers of Ice”. Ghostface Killah joined Raekwon, singing “Criminology” on the latter’s solo debut in 1995 He built only 4 Cuban Linx …

After the “break”, Raekwon declared that he was drunk and that he was restarting the process without waiting for Ghostface Killah to return from the break. Inspectah Deck then joined him for Wu-Tang Clan’s “CREAM”, and Ghostface returned to the set in a white ankle-length mink coat. In the 19th round, Raekwon started with Jodeci’s “Freek’n You (Mr. Dalvin’s Freek Mix),” which Ghostface ended in his turn.

VERZUZ returned for his second season last year, featuring a “Legends of the Bay” showdown between Too $ hort and E-40 in December and a rescheduled battle between Ashanti and Keyshia Cole. D’Angelo changed the format in February with a solo performance at the Apollo Theater, with Redman, Method man and HER joining him as guests. Earlier this month, founders Timbaland and Swizz Beats announced that they sold VERZUZ for the short-form video app Triller, with previous VERZUZ artists becoming interested in the new setup.
