Verizon Fios is experiencing disruptions on the east coast

Verizon Fios, the company’s fiber optic network, appears to be experiencing disruptions in many locations on the east coast of the United States.

There are more than 22,000 user reports of Verizon issues with the Downdetector, and there appear to be hotspots on the Downdetector outage map for Verizon in Boston, New York, Washington, DC and more. A little Border employees are also experiencing interruptions.

Many people on Twitter are also reporting problems with the Wires service. Verizon’s support account responded to some individuals reporting problems, saying this was “informed of a possible interruption in the area”. The account also said there was a fiber cut in Brooklyn, which may be the cause of problems for some.

People have also reported problems with Google, Zoom, Gmail and more on Downdetector, but the reports seem to come from the same places that are having problems with Fios. The Google and Zoom status pages show no interruption, so it is possible that problems with these services on the East Coast are linked to the interruption of Fios.

We asked Verizon to comment, and the company said it is investigating now.
